As an artist, I consider the intersections between time, change, and the sense of place through representational and abstract works. I begin with observing and sketching my local surroundings, working in paint, ink, and other media. I’ll return to the same subjects year after year, honoring the changes in season through my sketching. These sketches then become the basis for mixed media pieces that often combine painting, printmaking, and drawing. Time is another important element, with some pieces taking years to complete as I ruminate on different ideas.
